Ms. Villa was born in Italy and her family moved to Rochester when she was 9 months old. They spoke English outside the house, but Italian at home, and Ms. Villa is now fluent in both.
When she was 11 her father suffered a heart attack and she and her sister began working to put themselves through school, she said.
She happened to visit Long Island 20 years ago, and has been here ever since. |
