Steve Sabella is the holder of the Ellen Auerbach award (2008) granted by the Akademie der Künste in Berlin, Germany and has been voted as a young member of the same academy.
He was born in the Old City of Jerusalem (1975), and is a widely exhibited artist in Palestinian galleries.
He also participated in several international group exhibitions in Europe, Canada and the USA including Neighbors in Dialogue where the work has become part of the permanent collection of the Ars Aevi museum in Sarajevo. |

His ongoing project jerusalem in exile (http://www.jerusalem-in-exile.net) explores the mental image Palestinians hold of Jerusalem and has gained international attention.
Currently, Sabella is giving a photographic form through photomontage to the ‘state of mind’ of living in mental exile. This work is currently being exhibited in Turin, Italy in an international exhibition, The Gates of Mediterranean, curated by Martina Corgnati. Exhibition lasts till September 28, 2008.
Sabella is a Chevening and Karim Said Foundation Scholar. In 2008 he completed a Masters programme in Photographic Studies at the University of Westminster in London. Currently, he is pursuing a second Master’s degree in Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London.
