Update on Our Progress

Anticipation and excitement are building as 2008 marks the last year of the Learners First campaign to meet its goal's in all categories.

One of the key goals for the Learners First campaign is scholarship support. This year, the Empire State College Foundation has awarded more than $329,190 to more than 210 students in grants and annual or endowed scholarships.

Also notable is that 1,460 students received short-term, no-interest loans through the foundation’s revolving grant fund, with the total distributed amounting to $739,320.

And more than $85,000 has been provided in support of new program research and development and technology enhancements for academic programs.

To date, the Learners First campaign has exceeded the overall campaign goal of $51.5 million by raising $59.5 million.  However, we have one more goal, raising $9 million in private philanthropy.  

Private philanthropy includes gifts to the Empire State College Annual Fund, to programs – such as the Bachelor of Science in Nursing or the Master of Arts in Teaching – to endowed scholarships, or funding special initiatives such as the Susan H. Turben Chair in Mentoring.
