Elaine Patrice Perkins is a shining example of a life transformed. If there are people who doubt how financial aid impacts today's college students, Elaine, a work-study student at the college's Northeast Center and past recipient of an Empire State College Foundation Scholarship, isn’t among them. She calls the passion of the college's faculty and staff and their enthusiasm for the educational endeavor life-changing – and contagious.

Christopher Feeley ’86 knows a thing or two about being flexible. He spent his childhood on the road with his family – his dad was an auditor for Shell Oil Co. – living in 13 different places by the time he was in fifth grade.
The Connecticut native became interested in agricultural issues after his family spent time in Indiana. When it was time for college, he chose the University of Connecticut, eyeing a career in agriculture. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science. He was, he relates, planning a career where he could be outdoors and he “always liked growing things.” He ended up working for a dairymen’s cooperative in Cobleskill, N.Y.
