Why did you choose Empire State College? What do you think is the best thing about the college?
I chose SUNY Empire because it offered me the flexibility to take care of my family, work and go to school. Distance learning is great for those who need to be present for family and work and desire to further their education.

How did Empire State College help you shape your personal and professional goals?
SUNY Empire certainly prepares its students well. The course work that was offered was challenging and very interesting. The professors and mentors were always available and helpful. They offered much guidance, support and encouragement. Their professionalism was also a great example. They assisted me in examining my work experiences, my education and my professional goals. In doing this, they helped me to develop educational goals which would assist me in take steps toward my future aspirations.

What is your career highlight or proudest career moment to date?
I believe that my career highlight is not only being Ordained as a Priest in the Episcopal Church, but also becoming the first female Chaplain in the history of NYS DOCCS Clinton Correctional Facility. Without all that I had learned at SUNY Empire and attaining my degree, I would not have been able to achieve this. ESC truly equips you to face the challenges you will confront in your vocation. They prepare you well to enter the work force and succeed.

What advice would you give to a current Empire State College student?
My advice to current SUNY Empire students is to enjoy the journey. Listen to your mentors. They are experienced and are there to guide you. Learn, read, ask questions and explore. This is your time to prepare for the future that awaits you.

Why do you give back to SUNY Empire?
SUNY Empire is great and I want others to take advantage of this great institution of higher learning.
