What three words best describe who and what you are?
Determined. Caring. Likes challenges.

What inspired you to earn your college degree? What was your “moment”?
I decided to earn my degree because I was caring for my mom and only had a few classes to take to graduate. I felt since I would be with Mom evening and week-ends going to college would be a good idea instead of watching TV.

Why did you choose to attend ESC?
I liked being able to be at home and study at my own convenience.

Who supported and encouraged you along the way?
My husband and coworkers.

What, if any, obstacles did you overcome?
I was caring for my mom, and it was at times difficult when she needed to be admitted into the hospital to keep up with my studies, but I kept myself on track by realizing getting a degree would lead to a better position.

What advice would you give to a prospective ESC student?
If you have the determination and realize that taking on-line classes will mean being able to work from home, but also there are many assignments and reports that you will have to focus on, then I would say give it a try. The classes are very interesting. You will be very happy to receive your degree and advance your career.

Anything else you would like to share?
I am very thankful that I received a letter from ESC telling me about Empire State College on-line programs. I also found my mentor Heather, to be very helpful. A big THANK YOU to her!
