Why did you choose Empire State College? What do you think is the best thing about the college?
SUNY Empire offered me the best opportunity for a customizable degree while taking advantage of my life experience in Prior Learning Assessments.

How did Empire State College help you shape your personal and professional goals?
SUNY Empire helped me realize my lifelong goal of earning my Associate Degree and ended up earning my Bachelors as well. My degrees now solidify me in my career.

What is your career highlight or proudest career moment to date?
Having the opportunity to work at my alma mater as the Transportation Supervisor where I also oversee Health and Safety and Facilities Management.

What advice would you give to a current Empire State College student?
Dedicate the time to be successful in your studies and take advantage of Prior Learning Assessment’s for financial reasons as well as speeding up the degree process.

Anything else you would like to share with fellow students and alumni?
Mine was a unique path and when I was younger I jumped from job to job including graduating from National Tractor Trailer School in the Spring of 1998. I never did drive tractor trailer but the training there lead me into the school transportation business as a bus driver in the fall of 1998 and then moving on as a bus mechanic at Weedsport Central School from 2000-2012, before accepting my current position at Port Byron. Life takes lots of turns and the degree I just completed was what I started out to do almost 25 years ago so you never know what life has to offer but hard work and determination pay off!
