Event Details

Description: Please join fellow students, alumni, faculty and staff for a Student Engagement Mixer in Newburgh.
More Info: As adult students returning to college (whether this is your first term or your last) our minds are focused on our goals for earning a degree that will bring us to the next level of our career or prepare us to launch a new one. The way we travel the journey of reaching our goals is up to us.

There are times when you really need to reach out to those who know the journey of taking online or independent studies. When you want to discuss the new ideas and theories that have you questioning past beliefs or challenging you to think differently, it is fellow students who might help you to see something differently.

SUNY Empire knows that traveling that educational journey is much easier with the support of fellow students, alumni, faculty and staff. The Newburgh student engagement mixer is designed with you in mind. The event will be held on Wednesday, October 11th from 4:30-7:00pm. There will be fellow students, faculty, alumni and staff in attendance, and a light dinner will be provided.

In addition to the mixer, there will be opportunities to meet with staff who can support your journey and provide you with the right information to get your questions answered. Get to know your faculty in an informal setting and learn about their interests and their passion for their area of study. If this event is intriguing to you as you find yourself wanting more interaction with students find out how to join or start a club. Clubs can be social (like the Chess club) mission driven (like Minority Students in Action) or focused on your area of study (like the Business Leaders Club). Or find out how to start a club of your own!

Whether you are there just for the mixer or how to get more involved, it will be an evening of relaxing and interesting conversations with other students just like you! Take a break from your busy lives to ensure that you begin to build the support that research shows will be crucial to your success as a student! You are also welcome to bring a guest to show off just how awesome your college is!

Enjoy and participate in our Creativity and Conversation Activity. Clear mason jars will be the canvas for your work of art. We will have several inspiring designs to choose from, or create your own design.
