Throughout the talk we will listen to quintessential studio recordings of jazz music and engage in a discussion about the importance of jazz during this critical time in American History. Some of the key figures we will listen to include: Billie Holiday, Sonny Rollins, Max Roach, Nina Simone, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus as well as several others.
