Why did you choose Empire State College? What do you think is the best thing about the college?
Several factors influenced my decision to enroll at SUNY ESC. This includes the ease of transferring credits from other SUNY schools, the flexibility that independent study provided, and the quality of the mentors that I worked with to complete my degree.

How did Empire State College help you shape your personal and professional goals?
My education provided me with the knowledge, discipline, and the confidence to leave a 19-year career at Verizon at the age of 42.

What is your career highlight or proudest career moment to date?
The ability to work with and learn from an incredibly talented group of colleagues at NPCA. Working to protect America’s national parks is a tremendous privilege.

What advice would you give to a current Empire State College student?
Try and make the most of the experience by pushing yourself. The relationships that you’ll form in the process will enrich your life.

Why do you give back to SUNY Empire?
Without my experience at SUNY ESC, I wouldn’t have the job that I dreamed about for years.

Anything else you would like to share with fellow alumni and students?
I strongly recommend that students consider attending the Adirondack Residency in October. It takes place on beautiful Raquette Lake.
