What three words best describe who and what you are?
Motivated, Artistic, Compassionate.
What inspired you to earn your college degree? What was your “moment”?
My beautiful children. I stopped going to school because I was having a baby. After putting three amazing children through college, We all felt it was my turn to accomplish my goal. Teaching! I have always wanted to teach and now I will. I have been so blessed by Empire State College, the professors, and my beautiful family.
Why did you choose to attend ESC?
My choice to attend ESC was easy. The atmosphere, people, and Denise’s presentation, sold me.
Who supported and encouraged you along the way?
The support I received was from my beautiful family and my professors and my mentor Professor Gina Torino.
What, if any, obstacles did you overcome?
The obstacles I need to overcome was my fear of failure. I failed myself the first time. My grades and focus wasn’t the best. I was determined to do whatever needed to be done this time to achieve my life goal.
What advice would you give to a prospective ESC student?
The advice I would give to a prospective ESC student is to reach for your hearts desire and hold on to your dream. No matter what it is, you can do it. Whatever your heart desires, as long as you have the will to accomplish your goal, you will. Never let anyone or anything get in the way of your dream.
Why do you give back to SUNY Empire?
ESC has helped me accomplish a goal I never thought I could accomplish. Giving back to Empire will be easy, because I will always think of the Professors as family. I love ESC!
How has your experience at ESC changed your life since graduation?
I graduated with my AS degree in 2016 and I will be graduating in 2019 with my BS in Education. My experience at ESC has been a positive one. My life since my graduation with my AS has brought me an increase in pay at the Board of Education and I’m sure my BS will open the door for me to attend Graduate School in the Fall of 2019.
Anything else you would like to share?
Future students. Please give ESC a chance to assist you on your career path. You will be richer in the long term and happier to have met the wonderful people that will help mold your mind and your future.
