- College honors two alumni in New York City
Nell Braxton Gibson í82 and Ted Bunch í94 were honored as distinguished alumni of SUNY Empire State College at the collegeís fifth annual Black History Celebration held on May 12 in NYC.
- Commencement Speakers Announced
Approximately 3,300 associate, bachelorís and masterís degrees will be conferred on the class of 2016. For the first time this year, each Commencement event will be streamed live online.

Merrill of the Harry Van Arsdale, Jr. Center for Labor Studies, is quoted in the New York Times in an obituary for African-American labor leader James Haughton.
