Alumni Spotlight: Patrick Paul ’94 named Executive Director/CEO
Patrick D. Paul ’94, a Hudson Valley region graduate with a B.S. in Community and Human Services, has assumed the role of executive director/CEO of Anderson Center for Autism. Paul, a New Paltz resident, who served as COO, brings a diverse and successful background to his current activities. He previously worked in banking, investment management, public accounting, the Internal Revenue Service and the New York State Police.

Pay It Forward Initiative Collects 1,100 Items for Five Ronald McDonald Houses
Pay It Forward, a collegewide and statewide effort, encourages students, alumni, faculty and staff to seek imaginative ways to engage and give back to the college and the communities where they live, work, teach and learn. Five Ronald McDonald Houses, located in Albany, the Hudson Valley, Rochester, Syracuse and Long Island, benefited from Pay It Forward this fall.

Student Spotlight: Julie Byrne Produces Second Album
Julie Byrne, who is currently pursuing a bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies, will have her new album debut on January 27, 2017. The new album is entitled “Not Even Happiness” and highlights her abandonment of home and dedicating herself to living on the road, letting her folk hush expand out in the wild.

Why did you choose Empire State College? What do you think is the best thing about the college?
I chose Empire because of the flexibility. When I started I was a single mom of two daughters, one with special needs and one in college. Empire’s flexibility allowed me to earn my degree while still being an involved parent and a full-time employee.
