What three words best describe who and what you are?
Determined. Hard-working. Friendly.

What inspired you to earn your college degree? What was your “moment”?
When my boys were young I advised them I would go back to college when they both were in college. I did, and took 3 or 4 classes a semester for 4 years to get my degree while working a full-time and 2 part-time jobs.

Why did you choose to attend ESC?
I found that taking online courses was my only option and since ESC is a SUNY school, it made perfect sense.

Who supported and encouraged you along the way?
My boys were my biggest support. Inspiring me to keep going. My co-workers and friends were also very supportive.

What, if any, obstacles did you overcome?
The biggest was not getting enough sleep sometimes. My full-time job was 40+ hours a week plus the two part-time jobs were 15-20 hours a week.

What advice would you give to a prospective ESC student?
If you really want this, ESC is a perfect choice. You just have to keep going. Set a schedule of your work and when you will be in the class and when you will do homework. KEEP that schedule and you can do anything you set your mind to do!

How has your experience at ESC changed your life since graduation?
Currently I am teaching as an adjunct in addition to my full-time position at SUNY Oneonta.

Anything else you would like to share?
My advisor at ESC told me to take programming courses in my selection of courses. I did and I am really glad I did! That is now what I do. I wasn’t really sure I would enjoy it, but I found I do.
