What three words best describe who and what you are?
Determined. Dedicated. Thorough.

What inspired you to earn your college degree? What was your “moment”?
The inspiration to earn my MA was self-fulfillment; I was not a strong student in high school, and I found success at ESC which propelled me forward. I wanted to achieve that higher level academic accomplishment to enrich the professional work that I am already doing. Also, serving as a model for my two daughters to finish what they start and to immerse themselves in knowledge of the things they have a passion for. My “moment” was during the period of my undergraduate study at ESC when I realized that “I could actually do this”.

Why did you choose to attend ESC?
After completing an AAS, and several false starts in other college environments for Undergrad, ESC offered the right mode of study for my learning style and busy life.

Who supported and encouraged you along the way?
My family and friends were extremely supportive, and as I moved through my MA Program, my colleagues were also intensely supportive.

What, if any, obstacles did you overcome?
Academically, I have always struggled, and the anxiety of a large campus has added to that. With ESC, I was able to go at the pace I needed to in order to gain confidence to show my academic strengths. The Final Project for my MA posed several technical obstacles as well, and with support from faculty, colleagues and with time, everything worked itself out.

What advice would you give to a prospective ESC student?
You get out of it what you put into it. The supports are there if you need them.

Why do you give back to SUNY Empire?
Because I would like others to experience the same success I have.
